Global IT Services aided DHCS in transitioning to a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) thereby leveraging new technology. This was the objective of the Health Exchange and Medi-Cal Interface (HEMI) project. HEMI comprises of multiple web-based services joined with an enterprise service bus.
Global IT Services helped architect and enhance interfaces to support the California Medicaid Management Information System (CA-MMIS). The team provides a standard set of web services that encapsulate the business functionality for HPE, CHDP, and BCCTP. The system was developed and maintained using the Agile Methodology.
CalHEERS was developed and integrated with DHCS’s existing Medi-Cal Eligibility Data System (MEDS), county-based enrollment system, Statewide Automated Welfare Systems (SAWS), and the Statewide Client Index (SCI). This was done to allow CalHEERS complete access to Medi-Cal beneficiary’s data, in real-time. As a result, there was an increase in Medi-Cal’s eligible population and an integrated and unified statewide system was created.
